Reece Cox at JTC – January 2020 blog post
Hi, Reece here.
Hope you all had a great Christmas period.
Since Christmas, I have been to work at JTC on a few occasions and am still really enjoying the experience that this opportunity is giving me.
Firstly, on the 3rd of January, I assisted Jason in the delivery of a Risk Assessment, Method Statement and CoSHH training course in Norwich. I found this day of work extremely valuable, as I solidified my knowledge from my course work regarding the above listed areas.
My next day of work experience was on Friday the 10th of January. For this day, we travelled to Covent Garden, London for some site based work. We reviewed the site’s Construction Phase Plan and Safe System of Work. The project itself was a refurbishment project with electrical works being carried out. This site visit was a fantastic experience for myself, as I had some first-hand experience on the required H&S checks.
And finally, on Monday the 13th of January, I attended, and was a delegate on a CITB Construction H&S Awareness Course at Aurelia. This course was an important step in obtaining my CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card. I passed the test at the end of the course, answering 24/25 answers correctly (That’s 96%)! I enjoyed the course itself, and was delighted to pass it, as it is vital for me to be able to get out on site more in the future.
Meanwhile at College, I have submitted another assignment – Unit 4, Construction Techniques. Making great progress and I am really enjoying the course.
Stay tuned for updates to the Blog!
Happy New Year,
Reece
