Reece Cox at JTC – April 2020 blog post
Hi again, thanks for taking the time to read this post. I would firstly like to wish everyone well during these difficult times, and hope that you are keeping safe. Unfortunately, the current situation has caused West Suffolk College to close down for the foreseeable future. However, I have been studying from home and making as much progress as possible.
With regards to my work experience placement, we have decided to carry on working together, as there are still numerous work experience opportunities available from home. This would include the production of Health and Safety legislation documents, individual training, practising H&S measures and other off site based activities.
Also, we have been working on a garden project at home, which includes the repairing works of a private road with the use of ‘cold lay’ Asphalt. We carried out this ground work on the 23rd and 24th of March. This was very valuable experience, as it involved the production of a Safe System of Work, calculation of quantities of materials and fuel, and the use of a Disc Cutter and Plate Compactor. We carried out the required training and Health and Safety checks before using the machinery, which is very interesting and important (as well as keeping me active!).
Once again, thank you for reading and I hope that you are staying safe.
